Potential Problems and Solutions

I Can't install the practice files.

My anti-virus software is preventing installation on my hard drive.

When I click on the Setup.exe file and try to install to a DVD, memory stick or non-default location, the installation fails.

The video lessons play fine but when I try to open an exercise file I get the message:

Problem

Installation of the practice files fails.

Problem description

When an attempt is made to install practice files to to non-standard directory, none of the practice files installs and only the two files unis000.dat and unins000.exe are installed into the directory.

Steps to resolve the problem

From the main menu click Setup and Utilities >>.

1. Click Install-reinstall practice files.
2. Click Next.
3. Accept the license agreement and click Next.
4. Click Next again.
5. This is the important part.  Do not change the folder that the practice files install into.  There is a problem with the install routine that does not allow installation to a non-standard directory.  You can copy the sample files to another location later if required.  Make sure that the installation directory is left at C:\Practice as shown below:
6. Click Next.
7. Click Install.
8. Click Finish.

Disable your anti-virus software, install the video, and then re-enable your anti-virus software.

Steps to resolve the problem

This problem is caused becuase of one of the following:

• The latest version of the free Adobe Acrobat Reader is not installed on your machine.
• The file association for Adbobe Acrobat (PDF) files has become corrupted on your machine.

Both problems are solved by installing (or updating) your copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader.  You'll find instructions on how to do this in:
